There are many opportunities during cooking to introduce vocabulary. Here are a list of words to review specific to this recipe:
pretzel
dough
twist

Break dough into:
2 pieces =
halves
3 pieces =
thirds
4 pieces =
quarters
Shapes
Form shapes with your dough
Ask your child to count:
How many sides?
How many corners?
Discuss various shapes
Size Comparison
Have your child identify:
Which piece is bigger?
Which is smaller?
Which is longer?
Which is shorter?
Which is thicker/wider?
Which is thinner/narrower?
SCIENCE
Yeast are living fungi which release gases
View yeast under a microscope
Dissolve
Supply 5 cups of water
Have the children predict which items will dissolve and which will not before adding:
Sugar to one of the water cups
Salt to another cup
Baby powder to another cup
Pepper to another cup
Jello or Kool-Aid powder to the final cup

Ask your child to spell their name with the dough
