• Pumpkin Seed Count
• Cut out 10 pumpkin shapes from orange construction paper
• Number them 1 to 10
• Have children count out appropriate number of pumpkin seeds and match them to the appropriate number on each "pumpkin" shape
• NOTE: You can use clean seeds from an actual pumpkin or store bought roasted ones

• Square Hunt
• Search for square shapes around the room

• Square Match
• Trace various sized squares onto poster board
• Have children match the appropriate square to its outline

• Have children identify shapes by feeling them, without looking

• Cover a square box with construction paper
• Draw a face on the paper
• Cut out an opening for the mouth

• Have your child identify and "feed" the Hungry Square only the square shaped food items

ART

• Pumpkin Seed Mosaic
• PARENTS SHOULD PREPARE THE SEEDS BEFORE THIS ACTIVITY - DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD NEAR THE RUBBING ALCOHOL
• Rinse and dry pumpkin seeds
• In a disposable bowl, soak clean seeds in a solution of Rubbing Alcohol and food coloring (1:1 ratio - alcohol/food coloring)
• Dry on paper towels
• Let your child create a mosaic using the seeds

GROSS MOTOR SKILLS

• Play Hopscotch
• Jump in and out of the square boxes

FINE MOTOR SKILLS

• Square Lacing
• Cut out a cardboard square
• Punch holes around the edges
• Using yarn, have children lace through the holes
